Skin Care Treatments for All Skin Types
EUROPEAN FACIAL
A European facial simply includes cleaning, exfoliation, massage extraction and mask.
The first step to the facial is cleaning the face. The cleaning process helps remove makeup and dirt from the face leaving a clean “canvas.”
The next step is the exfoliation process. During the exfoliation, the skin is exfoliated. This means that the older and dead skin cells are removed. This can be done through mechanical or chemical devices. Chemical process uses scrubs to exfoliate the skin which contain salicylic acids, glycolic acids, fruit enzymes, citric acids, or malic acids. In low doses, this can be done by the spa professional using treatments. Mechanical means that the spa professional will scrub your face with an abrasive treatment.
The European facial usually done with a face, neck, and shoulder massage. The massage helps relieve tension in the body allowing for a better blood flow and circulation.
The next step would be extraction. Extraction involves removal of blackheads, whiteheads, and any other impurities within the face. This usually involves the spa professional using a magnifying glass to help him with the extraction process. During this process, pimples are also treated.
A soothing mask is also placed upon the client’s face. This mask is actually picked using the client’s skin type. The client’s skin type may be dry, oily, sensitive, or a combination skin type.
Benefits
Benefits include removal of impurities of the skin such as whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples. It also includes the removal of embedded dirt under the skin. After a European facial, the face feels renewed and youthful. Circulation and blood flow is better leaving the feeling of being tired, stress, and tense behind.
With the rejuvenated you, comes a lift in confidence. Having a “perfect” face to look back at in the mirror gives you a better sense of self as well as higher self-esteem. The detoxification process of the skin also gives you healthier skin..
ADULT ACNE
Acne is a skin condition that causes whiteheads, blackheads, and inflamed red growths (papules, pustules, and cysts) to form. These growths are commonly called pimples or "zits."
Causes
Acne occurs when tiny holes on the surface of the skin, called pores, become clogged.
Each pore is an opening to a follicle, which contains a hair and an oil gland. These oil glands help lubricate the skin and help remove old skin cells.
When glands produce too much oil, the pores can become blocked. Dirt, debris, bacteria, and inflammatory cells build up. The blockage is called a plug or comedone.
The top of the plug may be white (whitehead) or dark (blackhead).
If the plug breaks open, the material inside causes swelling and red bumps to form.
If the inflammation is deep in your skin, the pimples may enlarge to form firm, painful cysts.
Acne is a problem of swelling and inflammation, not a problem caused by bacteria.
Acne is most common in teenagers, but it can happen at any age, even in an infant. Three out of four teenagers have some acne. Hormonal changes probably cause increased oil in the skin. However, people in their 30s and 40s may also have acne.
Acne tends to run in families and can be triggered by:
Hormonal changes related to menstrual periods, pregnancy, birth control pills, or stress
Greasy or oily cosmetic and hair products
Certain drugs (such as steroids, testosterone, estrogen, and phenytoin)
High levels of humidity and sweating
Despite the popular belief that chocolate, nuts, and greasy foods cause acne, research does not confirm this idea. Diets high in refined sugars may be related to acne, though.
Symptoms
Acne commonly appears on the face and shoulders, but it may also occur on the trunk, arms, legs, and buttocks.
Crusting of skin bumps
Papules (small red bumps)
Redness around the skin eruptions
Scarring of the skin
MICRODERMABRASION
The science of skin rejuvenation and skin resurfacing is evolving. Our skin resurfacing system features a DiamondTome wand that has the polishing action of diamond chips and the cleansing action of a vacuum.
Medical-level Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive technique for removing the topmost layer of skin leaving it soft, supple and renewed. Our skin resurfacing system removes the outer layer of skin by gently exfoliating the skin with natural diamond chips, while at the same time vacuuming the dead skin cells away in a sterile and controlled manner. Removing this outer layer of skin leaves a smoother texture, and promotes the growth of heathly new skin cells.
Skin resurfacing is excellent for acne scarring or surgical scar revision. This skin care treatment can also minimize sun damage and decrease brown spots and discoloration.
Microdermabrasion can be performed on any area of the face, neck, chest, hands, or body. As a result, the areas of the skin will produce new collagen which provides both immediate and long-term results.
Another form of Microdermabrasion, sometimes called Particle Skin Resurfacing is achieved using a highly controlled spray of fine medical grade aluminum oxide crystals, (one hundred microns in size), under pressure and vacuum. Debris and used crystals are simultaneously vacuumed into a sealed waste container and disposed. These crystals literally "erase" the imperfections and sun damage, without damaging the skin's integrity. The result is a smoother, more youthful appearance in which your skin will feel very smooth and clean.
Microdermabrasion can be utilized:
In the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, providing a younger appearance
To improve skin tone, making it soft and smooth leaving you with a healthy glow
To provide a more even skin color for patients with brown spots or hyperpigmentation
To diminish or reduce acne scars or large pores or scar revision
To reduce the frequency and severity of acne breakouts
Microdermabrasion is a skin care treatment that can be married with a custom facial for optimal skin care results.
